EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is specifically prescribed for treatment of psychological disorders due to traumatic experiences. During this therapy, the client wears a headphone with ‘clicks’ during psychotherapy. Other therapists use their hands instead of the mechanical clicks. The technique was first described and further developed by Francine Shapiro. Although the technique is commonly accepted as first choice of treatment after various traumatic events, there is no clear knowledge of the exact working mechanism.
